The basic working principle of the generator is based on the law of electromagnetic induction and the law of electromagnetic force. The magnetic circuit and circuit for mutual electromagnetic induction are composed of appropriate magnetic conductivity and conductive materials to generate electromagnetic power and achieve the purpose of energy conversion. The generator refers to the mechanical equipment that converts other forms of energy into electrical energy. It is driven by water turbine, steam turbine, diesel engine or other power machinery, and converts the energy generated by water flow, air flow, fuel combustion or nuclear fission into mechanical energy and then transfers it to the generator.

The basic components of the generator are the prime mover, rotor and stator: the prime mover provides energy to drive the rotor to rotate. The rotor uses remanence or DC to generate magnetic field. When the rotor rotates, it forms a relative cutting magnetic force line movement for the stator, and a sensing potential will be generated on the stator. If the stator and external circuits are connected to form a closed circuit, then there will be current output to the load. Diesel generator set is a kind of power generation equipment, which refers to the power machinery that uses diesel as fuel and diesel engine as prime mover to drive the generator to generate electricity. The whole unit is generally composed of diesel engine, generator, control box, fuel tank, starting and control storage battery, protection device, emergency cabinet and other components.
